What to say, what to say?

Well, I know I'm not going to say anything about that catastrophic kick that almost made me commit suicide during the Bills game.

Besides, why should I talk about that when there is a new Sabres injury to discuss? What injury is that, might you ask?

OH, ONLY DEREK ROY'S GROIN PULL.

Or his yeast infection, as my father said. I think that's pushing the envelope, myself. We say he's gay, or metro-sexual... Not transsexual. He's so harsh to my guys...

But anyways, I suggested to my mother that I make him some cookies, and this time I was deadly serious. I have an excuse to be in the area of his townhouse, since two of my good friends works in the office building about 500 feet away from his doorstep, and another friend is working on the construction of an apartment building going up across the street. SO IT'S ENTIRELY PLAUSIBLE THAT I REALLY AM "JUST IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD." Alas, my mother, since she had seen the infamous picture, reasoned that, because D's getting chunky, or was chunky, maybe some tofu brownies would be a better idea.

I don't like tofu, though, so unless Derek misses any games, he's not getting anything from me.

MJ gave me a good laugh, yesterday, though. When I found out that Derek was hurt, or at least missed practice, I texted her about it, and this was her response:

Oh no not princess d!! They are all falling apart on me!!

Okay, first of all, it rhymes. But she called him Princess D!! I love it!!! MJ, you're my heroine.

On another note, I found that car dealerships in Western New York are allowing people like me crazy fan-girls to find the Sabres a little bit more easily, these days...

Take, for example, DeLacy Ford:

And, for Exhibit B, I present, from Autoplace Nissan, via an internet dealer:

(That car that Paul now drives is an Infiniti FX35. Nice cars...)

I found the one of Paul when I was searching for a commercial that Kim saw, in which Paul was doing a Jason Pominville-esque promotion. That was the only thing returned to me. So then I ventured over to DeLacy's website to find some stuff about Jason, and I found some wonderful pictures....

Oh, and Ryan Miller is going to do the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree at Rotary Rink on Sunday at 5 pm. I saw something somewhere (maybe in the paper this morning?) that it's $100 per ticket... That's a bit steep, if you ask me, to watch a good looking guy throw a switch. Whatever, though, because I don't get to see it because I'll be at work. What a shame...

But that's about all the Sabres stuff I could dig up for today. Enjoy the snow!!

Derek Roy is Missing (and a Stalker), and Who is Nathan Paetsch?

First of all, I have to say that, thus far this morning, I'm highly disappointed in Kiss 98.5.  WHERE THE HELL IS THIS WEEK'S INSTALLMENT OF THE DEREK ROY REPORT?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?  Hmph.  I'm going to pout for the rest of the day.

I was really looking forward to telling Derek that because of all of our common ground, I'm not stalking him, he's in fact stalking me.  Because stalking, by definition, means that a person willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly follows or harasses another.  Willful?  Yes, most definitely.  Maliciously?  Hell to the no.  I am by no means spiteful to Derek, and I would never, ever, ever want to hurt him.  Do I follow him?  No.  Well...  No, we'll just leave it at no.  Do I harass him?  I've never spoken to him, so, again, no.  But does he tell me that we have all sorts of stuff in common?  Yes; that makes him willing.  Is he malicious?  Yes, because he knows it's going to hurt me.  Does he repeatedly follow me?  No, but he presents situations for me to follow him regularly.  Does he harass me?  No, I have to let him off there, too.  But trust me when I say he is (borderline) stalking me.  Yeah, I said it.

Second, I'm not going to talk about Craig Rivet's knee injury, because it makes me want to cry.  But, I did find some silver lining, at least for those of us who adore Nathan Paetsch, because he gets to play!!!!!!

But then I started to think, I don't remember much about him, because I haven't seen him in so long!  So, here we go...

Mr. Nathan Paetsch, hailing from Leroy, Saskatchewan, is 25 years old (3.25.83), and wears the same hoodie all the time.

Maybe the rest of the team took pity,
and they're letting Nathan have the hoodie from the BotTH.
Or maybe it's because it looks better on him than Petey...
But you have to like the deer-in-the-headlights facial expression.

And some more useless information about Nate:  He has a sister named Vanessa, his father, Rick, is an electrician in a Potash mine, and his mother, Brenda, is a financial advisor.  (I think I should call Brenda.  Maybe she can help me sort out my debt and actually have some money in my bank account once in a while.)

Also, according to that terribly addicting forum, which I always swear is trashy, but it's still fun to read, Nathan is engaged to a chiropractor, but he's also not engaged to her, but instead he's dating a doctor from Rochester.  I don't know what to believe...  I'm so lost.

(You know what?  It's really hard to find good information about dear Nathan.  I can't find any more.)

Moving on.

DEREK!!  I NEED YOU TO SCORE THIS EVENING!!  But please score after 9 pm, because I won't be home until then, and I'd prefer to see you score.  So TOMMY!!  I need you to keep us up over the Wild in the 1st, okay?  And Nathan?  Good luck, toots!  Um, and Ryan, please be the status quo brick wall.  Patty K, please hold off from doing anything crazy until I get home, too.  Power play and penalty kill, stay strong!  Okay????  Thanks.  I appreciate it.  Oh, and hockey gods?  I never said this.  Ever.  As far as you're concerned, I want...  No, I'm not even going to say it because it would probably back-fire on me.

Go Sabes!!

Ramblings, and Ding Dong Ditch Anyone??

So while I should be in my Medical Terminology and Anatomy/Physiology lectures today, I'm posting, shopping, tanning, and not giving a damn.  I just had 2 major exams and I've worked 4 nights in a row with crazy old people.  Literally, they're crazy old people.  Not just the lady at the corner of my street who yelled at us when we were waiting at the bus stop if we put a toe on her lawn, but certifiable old people with Dementia and Alzheimer's.  So, yeah.  I'm taking a day off, especially since this is the only day I'm not working this week.

Topic #1  :  Derek Roy
AHHHHH!  My baby was captain!  So last night I was listening to the game at work on my headphones, not that I'm allowed to or anything, but since when do I care?  And when Rick said that some punk knocked Derek down, I got all offended.  And then someone slashed him or something, and I got even more offended.  The text messages between Kim and I were so frequent that I couldn't tell exactly what happened there, because every time I'd send or receive a message, my reception would go all fuzzy.  You give and you take, I guess.

Topic #2  :  NHL.com
I seem to remember the NHL mandating that all 30 teams in the league reformat and redesign their websites so that they all corresponded in layout and all that jazz with www.NHL.com.  Now, one year later, they've gone and changed their whole website.  That's pretty lame if you ask me, and I, for one, am not crazy about the look of it.  It's sleek, yes, but it's lacking color.  And they don't let you get the real-time scores anymore.  I wanted it last night at work, but all they give you now is the option to watch any game, live, on your computer.  BUT you have to pay.  It's Center Ice online, basically.  There is, however, a free preview on opening weekend.  I think I just might have to check it out; probably won't, though, since I can finally watch Rick and Harry.

Topic #3  :  New NHL Commercials
It was brought to my attention after reading someone's blog (sorry, I can't remember which one) that the NHL has a new campaign this year.  Well, actually, it's still the "Is this the year?" deal, but tweaked.  I'm not crazy about it.  There are the platform league commercials, and then each team has two of their own:  One focuses on the team, and then the other highlights a certain player.  Ours is Miller, obviously.  But they really could've taken the time to actually FILM a commercial, instead of putting a slideshow of pictures together and throwing some little diddy over it.  The one-liners at the end are pretty funny, but I preferred last season's clips which actually featured the players themselves.  Watch them here, but click on "NHL Presents," and they'll be on the menu on the right-hand side.  Miller's is last on Page 3, and the team one (or should I say Derek, Tommy, and Jason's) is first on 4.

Topic #4  :  Matt Ellis
WHO?  Um, can someone please explain to me why we claimed him?  I mean, I realize that he'll end up a Portland guy, but still.  They can snag this guy off of waivers and sign a whole bunch of randoms over the summer, BUT THEY CAN'T CONVINCE MIKE RYAN TO SIGN??  Lame.  No offense, Matt.  I just like Mike.

Topic #5  :  Chris Drury
Before you smack yourself in the face, this isn't another rant about how we let him get away.  Personally, I couldn't care less anymore.  We couldn't win it with him, so who's to say we can't win it without him, am I right, or am I right?  ANYWAYS, the TBN had an article featuring him today.  One, he now plays on the wing.  If Chris Drury is as good as he is at faceoffs, why the hell wouldn't you want him at center?  That's like using Martin Brodeur as your backup goalie when you know he had a 2.17 GAA and a save percentage of .920 through 77 games and 2,089 shots.  Two, he's making a push to be named the Rangers' captain.  Well, obviously.  But the paper says that he has been extremely vocal with the guys lately.  Now that's something I don't remember him being in Buffalo.  I remember him being the one to lead by example, on the ice.  All the talking and the pow-wows were left to Briere, I thought.  I don't know, but maybe the Big City has affected Chris.

Topic #6  :  Heather B
Heather B, the beautiful author of Top Shelf, was featured in the TBN this morning!!!  So exciting!  So go read about her there.

Topic #7  :  Injuries
All I'm going to say is WHY ISN'T PAUL GAUSTAD ON THIS STUPID THING?

Topic #8  :  Portland Pirates
The Pirates open their training camp this morning.  Exciting stuff!  Except for the fact that it's just a continuation of the Sabres camp, but whatever.  It's the first glimpse of our guys for the fans up in Maine, so it's cool.  I just can't wait to go to a game there in November!  Yay!

Topic #9  :  Ding Dong Ditch Proposal
(I feel like that should say Love Potion #9 in honor of Derek's boat)
I had this idea yesterday while Kim and I were out for lunch.  Now, most of my ideas, when they involve the Sabres, can get pretty crazy, but they're always fun.  I came up with this little scheme to play DDD with our boys.  That could get interesting, but I think it would be oodles of fun, don't you?  Who wants in?  Anyone????

That's it for now, I guess.  Maybe some more later after tonight's game, since I'm not working!!  That's exciting.
